Hobbies/sports:

I enjoy power volleyball, golf, and the outdoors in general.  There's nothing better than an in "In Your Face" spike that hits at the 10' line!!  I'm absolutely terrible at golf, but love to chase the little white ball.  I refuse to take lessons...possibly improve, and then get mad when I mess up.  My outdoor interests (camping/hiking) are satified as a byproduct of my research in the Badlands and Black Hills, and from teaching.  I spent two months in the Canadian Rockies and Alaska as a field camp instructor while at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  What an amazing place!!  I enjoy watching hockey...can't skate...but love the Detroit Redwings.  I'm also a dedicated Nebraska Alumnus that enjoys NU football and volleyball.  I also enjoy a good book.  I'm presently reading three different books; one on natural history, a biographical, and fiction.  I also love to cook (especially Indian and Chinese cuisine), but hate to clean up the mess.  I'm planning to take a few cooking classes in the near future.  What do I collect?  ........mostly dust.......  I do have a small CD collection dominated by industrial bands, including Nine inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, and Front 242 This is not quite your stereotypical professor music, but don't despair.  I also enjoy National Public Radio, especially All Things Considered, Car Talk, A Prairie Home Companion, Whad'Ya Know?, and Weekend Edition.
